The Americas Styrenics polystyrene plant at Dow's Allyn's Point manufacturing site is located in Gales Ferry, Connecticut midway between New York City and Boston, nestled on the banks of the Thames River. Polystyrene manufacturing began on the site in 1952. There are two polystyrene trains currently in operation one was originally built in 1973, the other in 1976. Both have gone through many modernizations and upgrades. This facility became an Americas Styrenics asset in May 2008.
