Research and Development Conducted at Three Levels:
Facility Facts:
In 1995, the pilot plant was established inside the Marietta Polystyrene Plant and in 1996 the applications lab was built in an adjacent building. Approximately 15 chemists, engineers, technicians and support staff are now employed at the facility and the engineering staff also serves as day-to-day technical support for polystyrene plant operations.
Operational Highlights:
-
Extremely successful in developing pilot plant resins and scaling up to a commercial line.
-
Cooperation with clients in developing new lines on fabrication equipment.
-
Due to the location within the plant, projects can move quickly from idea generation, to bench scale, to pilot plant, to application testing and to commercial line.
